Russell Crowe rants on Twitter

Well well well, Russell Crowe, you dark horse!

You have had a little rant on Twitter.

You do surprise me.

In fact I should rephrase that, you have had a big rant on twitter.

Don’t you worry that you are going to alienate all your follower/fans.

Okay, we all have an opinion; there is nothing wrong with that. The world would be a very boring planet if we were all the same. I like our little idiosyncrasies, our varied cultures and different personalities. I also like the idea that we can learn and explore from each other.

So, that’s fine. But it’s the WAY you had your opinion that surprised me.

For any of you out there who still aren't aware of what I’m talking about I will explain.

One of Crowe’s fans, I repeat fans , (so this was probably someone who would have ordinarily liked and admired the Oscar-winning actor) asked him on Twitter whether he planned to have his baby circumcised, to which Crowe replied with,“circumcision is barbaric and stupid. Who are you to correct nature? Is it real that GOD requires a donation of foreskin?” He continued with an expression of love for his Jewish friends (mmmm, do they love you though, especially as in the next sentence you refer to the Jewish people with expressions including words like apples, honey and funny little hats?)

He then went on to call another one of his fans a moron .

Russell Crowe wasn't just putting his opinion out there, to anyone ; he was addressing one of his fans. He also said that anyone who is for circumcision are to ‘unfollow’ him immediately and then he told them where to get off, but not so subtly as that, I wont use the language he used. I wonder if he lost the majority of his Jewish fan base.

Crowe goes on to seemingly talk to the whole of the Jewish faith, commanding them to stop cutting their babies (cutting their babies, he makes it sound awful, like some kind of self harming ritual being taught among the Jewish community)

One of his followers then responded with the hygienic issue that surrounds circumcision, only to be verbally abused with

"Hygienic? Why don't you sew up you’re a*** then?"

I’ll let you fill in the blanks.

As much as everyone has a right to their view, I feel Russell Crowe was very rude to his fans and wasn't ashamed to show it to the world on Twitter. It’s a personal issue if someone wants to get their baby circumcised, be it for their religious convictions or not. There are other reasons people go with this option, not just religious.

Russell Crowe apologized in the end and also removed the comments.

It’s always too late to read these things. By the time the majority of folk hear and want to have a little peek, they’re removed from the Internet. Like the blogger that accused Simon Cowell of ‘fixing the X Factor’ the other week. His blog was removed pronto .

One of the reasons Crowe apologized was because of the backlash this caused from his fans. Yeah of course that was the reason. He woke up and smelt the coffee more like.But you know something, we all know what you said now, it’s out there.

This hub is not about circumcision and I have not expressed my view on the subject.
